I’m happy that the Nobel peace prize went to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, lead by Beatrice Fihn (born 1982, in Gothenburg), and the fight to get a Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

We have laws for war. You might have noticed I never have claimed to be an expert on international law, but it seems quite obvious that nuclear weapons shouldn’t be legal.  Dumdum bullets? Illegal, they cause unnecessary suffering. Anti-personnel mine? Illegal, they cause unnecessary suffering for civilians. Gas warfare? Illegal, cause unnecessary suffering. Incendiary weapons? Well, not illegal, but heavily restricted, because they cause unnecessary suffering. Nuclear bombs? It’s ridiculous to claim the use of them shouldn’t cause unnecessary suffering.
