So while watching Extraordinary attorney Woo I asked myself how many korean's right then were reading Scandinavian noir? However, when trying to find Christmas gifts for my nieces, I realised that the real question is how many Korean kids are reading Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Longstocking in Korean?

We are in a war winter. I can turn this dark. One thing that was mentioned when we were kids was that in the ex Soviet Union countries the most popular Astrid Lindgren book was not Pippi Longstocking but Karlsson on the roof. The other day I saw an article about an Ukrainian battalion for drone pilots that was nicknamed Karlsson on the roof.

Yep War Winter. Wednesday the 8 december I was travelling, by train and that day the whole railway system was knocked out for two hours. The communication system didn’t work and apparently they don’t trust phones in a possible emergency, so for safety reasons all trains in the country were stopped. Then something like that happens it is impossible to not think “Is it a cyber attack from Russia?” It wasn't but waiting for a train on you don't know if it even will come that day, is a reminder how much worse it is in Ukraine. Edit: I mean much worse than a late train.

One thing about this winter is that the electricity is expensive. Cheap electricity - like childrens book by Lindgren - has always been one of our things. Hydropower for the households and for the industry. To take a newish example. Q. Why do companies, including facebook, have enormous data servers in the quite northern parts of Sweden? A. Cheap electricity, plus it’s easier to cool the servers when it’s cold outside. But now we don’t have cheap electricity. It’s a bumpy ride ahead. But want to learn something cool about the data servers? Waste heat from them is used to heat greenhouses, among others the company I will have an internship on will use one of the serves like that. It might still just be a proof of concept but there are talks about 100000 m² of greenhouses and growing bananas and passionfruit.

Now I have the theme song from the Pippi Longstocking TV special in my head and it's your fault.

It is impossible to keep your mind from wandering to these speculations these days. Meanwhile in America, an area of North Carolina lost power because some treasonist shot up the substation. Rumor has it he was angry because someone did a drag show, but in the darkness, the mind wanders.

I'm glad to hear of resourcefulness like this.
