Venice is a spectacular travel destination. Maybe the only spectacular travel destination I have been to. Well I have seen Stonehenge and Loch Ness too, but Loch Ness only count if one sees the plesiosaurus colony there. The sad thing is that no one has ever seen that colony. So we can wonder what other truly spectacular travel destination there are in this world. The first I come to think of is the Galapagos islands, because of the animal life. Second Dubai with all their buildings. From Jung Chang's biography over Empress Cixi, I learned that the city Suzhou is called China's Venice, that could count (if one want an adventure, Suzhou is two to three hours by bike from Shanghai). Well, without thinking too much about it, here’s my list.

1. Galapagos
2. Dubai
3. Venice
4. Taj Mahal
5. The pyramids
6. Golden Temple, Amritsar, Punjab, India
7. The Sistine Chapel
8. Suzhou (perhaps)
9. Amazonas
10. The Sahara

I think I would add Iguazu Falls to that list. And maybe a Kenyan safari.

Natural wonders should be on the list. Elephants and giraffes and those iconic African animals should be something to see.
