I made one of my quite well planned grocery shopping trips today. At the store I saw some kids in their early teens buying lunch. That’s not well planned grocery shopping. So that made me happy. Kids get to be kids. In this example they get to ditch school lunch and instead go away from school and eat some junk together with their friends. I remember how important it was to do things like that. (If you think the school children were wearing masks, I will laugh at you.)

That’s interesting, I never thought about it like this. I follow the rules not just to protect the very old, not just to save the hospital personal, not even just since I don’t want to get sick myself. It’s also so the young should be able to live their life. As a smart person said, how we treat children is one thing that will give effects on society long after we all have got vaccines.

Of course the following is taking it a little too far, but this is the old thought about wars. That, in war time, men should make sacrifices, to save women and children*. I now make the trivial sacrifice to plan my shopping trips so the children will be able to live their life as normal. If we all do our part to keep down the infection rate, chance the schools will stay open increas.

* That was before we had airplanes. After airplanes were invented the military could turn it aroud: “If we do 'shock and awe' to the enemies cities, bomb them back to the pre-industrial world, we will kill women and children, but we will avoid first world war style trench warfare. That will save young men." Or I'm not an historian, I might miss something.
