Yesterday it was - 17 degrees Celsius ( should be 1.4 F) and we decided to be outside grilling sausages over the embers from the open fire. Something of a mistake, because it was -17 degrees Celsius. The kids froze and were not happy. Putting on them clothes until they are forced to walk like rigid penguins, might not be fun for them either. Grown ups can see the charm with cold air, clear sky, snow on pine trees, etc, small kids can not.

Then I got home and I was reminded of something I had completely forgotten. Namly if your fingers get cold enough, they start to hurt quite badly when you get inside, when they start to get warm again.

I know of course that covid-19 is not about me - more about that later. The thing is still that I have anxiety about it. It's winter and it will get worse. Or I am an incurable optimist, so sometimes I think that we can get through this and everything bad is behind us. If you want to look at small lights in the dark it seems like the number of people in the ICU in Stockholm is going down. But I have to reckon with it getting worse, and politicians have now got a taste for locking us in, and so there will be a lockdown here as well. I wish I lived in a world there softer metodes had worked*.  I am not preparing for the worst, I am expecting the worst. Can not see how one could be able to prepare for the misery. Right now, I’m writing my angst down, no matter if anyone read it or not.

 * Saving clause. in the time of writing this we are of course not 100% sure what works or not. We won't know for years, but my fear is that softer metodes doesn't work, while my optimistic thought is that they works.

 I

I don’t know about you but the last days of 2020 I got tired of people doing such a big thing about the year and the end of the year. One thing is that I suspect we hate the year for the wrong reasons. The problem might not be what everyone - including me - in rich countries had to live a little shittier life. Maybe just maybe the big problem is that the allready poor are getting poorer.

Btw. I’m not asking you to always trust the World bank nor always trust neo-liberal Johan Norberg. However, I don't think they have pull the statistic out of thin air. Then one has to ask if it is the virus or lockdowns that is the cause of this catastrophe. As you know, I am not a fan of harsh anti-liberal laws. Example I just used the words "anti-liberal", on my wordpress blog I even call whose photos of empty streets guarded by soldiers with covered faces for populist, panic, macho power projection. But I have to be open to the fact it could be that the lockdowns did not make it worse. That the virus in it self caused all suffering. Perhaps the pro-lockdown people the same way should be open to the opposite posible. That lockdowns actually cause suffering, besides the obvious suffering in the rich world.
