I have written that I don’t understand American politics. That I have stopped visiting tons of US sites, from imgur to rationalwiki, since American politics are so crazy. To be fair, my working hypothesis is nowadays that it’s like that everywhere. Like my local municipality last year had a surplus of 1.2 billion SEK, that should be more than 100 million USD*. That sounds good to me. Only ten years like that and you’re a billionaire. But for this year the town has decided to cut funding for schools. Are we living in a Monty Python sketch? “We are going plus. Lets save money on the kids!” “Of course we will! That goes without saying!”
All countries are full of beauty, all countries have great inhabitants and all countries have politicians that Monty Python could have written. Of course, the last might have been something John Cleese said about Sarah Palin.
* Apparently, some of those money are from the hydropower plant that the municipality owns at least parts of. High electricity prices in Europe are bad for ordinary people and for the industry, but obviously good for anyone who happens to own hydropower plants.
