First, apparently there has been a terrorist act in Stockholm, three dead confirmed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a bad thing. Still one want to add - as a (right wing) politician tweeted - before this the last real terrorist attack was all the way back in 1975 when West German terrorist blow up the West German ambassad in Stockholm. We have also been lucky.

Wanna see something nice instead I noticed that I have two biographies about European, historical royalty at home. The lonely empress, about Elisabeth, empress of Austria queen of Hungary (1837-1898), and The Swan king about Ludwig II of Bavaria (1845-1886) .

I really have no interest in Royalties. For example I have never read any biography about our own Royal family. No the the only thing I was going to write about is Ludwig II. There is some cult around him, maybe you know more, but he’s mostly known for the castle Neuschwanstein (literary New Swan Stone, a name at least I find weird). Always described as an inspiration for the Disney Castle.

What’s like bucket list attraction. (Pic. wikimedia)

It is a bad thing, though to be fair, bad things are happening all of the time :/

I have been to Neuschwanstein years and years ago when I went to Europe in the 90s. I had no recollection that as the literal meaning for the name.

In the 80s I visited France with my mum who was running an experiment. We flew in tow Switzerland and took the train to Grenoble. I remember a tramway into the mountains. trams were spherical in shape.

In that same trip to Bavaria in the 90s we also went to Austria and Lichtenstein. I was studying German in High School at the time and I wanted to see some German speaking countries. I don't remember it that well. If you count the UK we also went there several times. Including a trip to Cornwall, where some of my mum's family is from. There is a gentleman from Zennor who apparently ran off with a Mermaid (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mermaid_of_Zennor) who has the same last name as my mum. We like to joke that we have mermaid relatives.

I didn't get a chance to go to Europe at all in the 00s. !!

You may recall that I was in Denmark and Sweden last year for the first time this decade, and saw some really interesting things, but I think the Vasa was the highlight for me.

I don't think that I spoke any German on the trip, for the same reason.

Never been to Venice yet no.

I do remember you talking about the Vasa; when you described it, I knew that I had to see it for myself :)
