So now the free speculation is that I should be afraid of the government. The thing being that now when we have both vaccins and spring to look forward to, and now when we seemily is doing better than other European countries, the government suddenly has decided we need harsher laws. That’s not the speculation, this is the specualtion. A teacher of mine said that Sweden has this pattern of taking everything to the extreme. Now we live in a world where anti-liberal metodes and tunnel-vision for fighting one infectious disease, is popular. What’s the extreme of that?
Historical examples of taking things far: In the first part of the last century we took eugenics far and forced sterilized “unwanted people" (or whatever the phrase was used) on a scale no other country did. In the 1950s we took militarism so far the government started to build nuclear weapons from scratch. The latest example is asylum immigation, again on a scale no other country would dream of.
Edit: yes Sweden has failed. And I can’t defend that our starved welfare state couldn’t protect the old. It just doesn't change the fact that most other countries have failed too.
