Let’s go back to writing about pop-culture. I can copy and past some dialog from The Wrestler:

Cassidy: Fuckin' 80's man, best shit ever !
Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Bet'chr ass man, Guns N' Roses! Rules.
Cassidy: Crue!
Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Yeah!
Cassidy: Def Lep!
Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Then that Cobain pussy had to come around & ruin it all.
Cassidy: Like theres something wrong with just wanting to have a good time?
Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: I'll tell you somethin', I hate the fuckin' 90's.
Cassidy: Fuckin' 90's sucked.
Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Fuckin' 90's sucked.

I loved the 90s, I was young then. In my 1990s nostalgia I have listen to songs like The way by the Fastball and To the moon and back by Savage Garden and I won't see Trainspotting 2 since that would just remind me of my age and stuff. But the other thing is was the 80s really about having a good time? Wasn’t all songs from that time about nuclear war? Take the lyrics from Forever young for example:

Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you going to drop the bomb or not?

Other examples are 99 luftballons with lyric about the Warsaw pact mistakenly thinking 99 air balloons are NATO missiles. Or my favorite example Baby got a neutron bomb by Army of lovers. Even having a nuclear weapon reference in the title. That song by that camp band also had lines in Japanese. Back then people didn’t only thought ww3 would start in Germany and involve neutron bombs against Soviet tanks, but also thought Japan would take over the world.
