Lecturing

Today they announced the Nobel prize in chemistry. We had hopped the Nobel prize in chemistry should go to the discovery of Crispr. One co-discover is Emmanuelle Charpentier, who was guest professor at the local university. And on a personal note about Crispr, here’s screenshot from my “watch later” thing on youtube. I have not watched the videos, but it show I had some kind of ambition to learn something about CRISPR. Good enough.

Instead the chemistry prize went to three men “for developing cryo-electron microscopy for the high-resolution structure determination of biomolecules in solution". A quote that made me think of the Albert Szent-Gyorgyi quotes: “Life is water, dancing to the tune of macro molecules”. I don’t know anything about that guy, but the quote is rememberable.

The other things about today is that it’s the cinnamon bun day. Yeah, that’s a Swedish thing. Yesterday on the other hand, was the anniversary of German reunification, and therefore also the last day of the Oktoberfest. It also means the Oktoberfest starts in September. Am I lecturing too much?
