To not stay away from the controversial

On a podcast I heard a woman claiming that mainstream American media didn’t report the fact that UK, Finland and Sweden - in that order - have stopped using puberty blockers for children with gender dysphoria. Should we trust those American journalists to have good intentions? That they think puberty blockers are good, and they don’t want to cause any confusion? They don’t want to give any ammunition to the transphobes. Or should we assume they don’t report that since they like to sterilize kids? (Incase you have missed it, right or not, sterilization is at least mentioned as one side effect of puberty blockers.)
Two. Now our science journalist writes that studies on the pandemic give answers that “are very different from dead certain statements that have flourished in the public debate over the past two years.” That it’s difficult to see what really works and doesn't work for pandemic fighting. Vaccine works, that should go without saying, otherwise it is hard to know. Yeah, that was one of my criticisms early in the pandemic, people who made all whose dead certain statements about what they thought worked. Including comparing cloth masks with vaccines. But to go back to the journalists. Should we trust those science journalists? Assume they mean well and believe what they write. Or should we think they are Trump supporting right wing extremists who spend their time planning a march to Rome?
Okay,I deliberately mention trust, because, and I am not saying I buy this but, besides vaccines, one thing that has been mentioned as helpful in the pandemic is trust. Trust between citizens and trust between government and citizens.
A third thing that seems to have helped is high GDP. Yeah, that I buy. We have the saying, “It’s better to be rich and healthy than poor and sick”.
