The sad part is they would probably not care, or even wear it as a badge of honor. There is almost a willful anti-intellectualism coupled with the real problem that our government has done little or nothing to help those people whose jobs in fuel-extraction industries have either gone away or fallen out of favor because of the impact. In their view, it's all very well and good to preach about the "somedays" of climate change when they don't have a job and nobody is telling them what they can do to get one.
